Completely Terrible

Things went horribly wrong. It was a real fiasco. We tried to {compensate|handle the situation, but it was like trying to stop a blizzard with a spoon. We're still picking up the debris and feeling the impact of this disaster.

Dreadful Day Ever

It all started with a terrible case of bedhead hair. I couldn't do it to look right. As I was running out the door, I trippedon and dropped my lunch all over myself. To make matters worse, I was completely running behind for work.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
